Main Event – Spring Break FUNPass

Are you looking for family friendly entertainment? How about bowling, laser tag, arcade games, gravity ropes, billiards, food and fun all under one roof? You can entertain the older kids while the younger kids play and vice versa. Not to mention, you as a parent can jump right in to play too. Bowl with the kids or join in on laser tag. I have to admit that I have never played laser tag myself, but just might have to try it next time. At Main Event the entire family can have fun together.

We went for our first time just a couple of weeks ago, here in OKC. I took my 9 year old to a birthday party. I was really impressed with the size of the place and all of the activities that they had to offer. My son had a great time. In fact, he wasn’t ready to leave because he was having so much fun. It’s also great to know that my 18 year old son now has another option when he wants to go play pool.

If you’re looking for a stress free birthday party, you should consider Main Event. I stayed through the course of the party and everything was taken care of by the party host. I will definitely consider this as an option for future parties.

But right now, Spring Break is upon us and although we would love to travel away from home, there is plenty to do right here in OKC. Main Event being one of the options. They are even having a Spring Break Special right now.

Spring Break FUNPass is all-you-can-play activities

Daily from 9am-4pm is $15.95 per person*

Daily from 4pm-close is $17.95 per person*

*The Spring Break FUNPass is available all day Tuesday through Sunday and from open to 4pm to Monday.

This offer is good at any of the 19 Main Event centers. This includes bowling, laser tag, billiards, the gravity ropes, etc.

Since this is a Spring Break special it is now through April 8th.

Have you ever visited a Main Event location? Which one is closest to you? You can see a list of the Main Event locations here.

My Venture Pass, March Deal

As you may recall, a couple of weeks ago I told you about a wonderful deal where you could purchase one pass for entry into 7 family friendly entertainment venues. They have contacted me with a March Special.

I already thought that the deal was sweet, but this one is even sweeter. But this special price is only good through the end of March so you’ll definitely want to take advantage of the special before it ends. Instead of the original special of $129.99 per pass, they have slashed the price down to $89.99 per pass. That is an awesome deal!! For those of you that have already purchased a pass at the $129.99, they will be refunding the difference to you.

If you are looking for more details go here

Venture Pass Special

Family Friendly Fun in OKC, My Venture Pass

having fun OKC

I realize that there is still snow on the ground around OKC, but I am already thinking about Spring Break and summer plans. Maybe it is because I am so ready for the sunshine. Or maybe it is because I know that I will soon be hearing “I’m bored” and “What can we do today”.

So while researching things to do around OKC, I came across something new. It is a pass that incorporates 7 family entertainments into one price. These are hot attractions in/around OKC.

Have you heard about My Venture Pass? It is new for the OKC area. My Venture Pass has worked with local family friendly entertainment venues to get entry into the following places at one unbeatable price. Look at the venues that are included:

White Water Bay – Unlimited admission for 2015 season, early entrance for pass holders, free concerts included, free Dive-In Movies at the park, Park coupons, Fright Fest (Friday nights, Saturdays, and Sundays From Oct 2- Nov 1)

Frontier City – Unlimited admission for 2015 season, early entrance for pass holders, free concerts included, free Dive-In Movies at the park, Park coupons, Fright Fest (Friday nights, Saturdays, and Sundays From Oct 2- Nov 1)

HeyDay Entertainment – Laser Tag, Mini Golf, Ropes Course up to 3 of each activity M-Th from Open until 5PM

Blazers Ice Center – Unlimited skating during public/free skate

Arctic Edge Ice Center – Unlimited skating during public/free skate

Star Skate Norman – Unlimited skating during public/free skate

Star Skate Midwest City – Unlimited skating during public/free skate

OKC Fun

These entertainment passes (all 7 of these places listed) are good for a 12 month period beginning on the date of purchase. If you have checked into the price of these places individually then you’ll know that the price can add up quickly, in excess of $450, per person. On their website the passes can be purchased for $149.99 per person.

But I was able to talk to the fine folks over at My Venture Pass and have negotiated a discounted rate for my readers. If you will use the code OKCMomof3 at checkout you will be able to purchase these entertainment passes at $20 off of the listed price. That would make each pass $129.99.

This is a great deal! Each family member needs to have a pass. If the kids go with friends, they just take their pass without any additional fees. Don’t forget to get one for yourself so that you can get entry into the family friendly entertainment venues as well. The teenagers will love you for that one! But if you’ve just got little one’s then you’ll want to be with them anyway. And why not? We parents have gotta have some fun too!

This pass offers families an opportunity to enjoy some of the best entertainment options in the metro, unlimited times throughout the year. So if you add them up separately, then you’ll know this pass will more than pay for itself. If you don’t live in the metro area, but you’re planning to visit, then it is still a great deal.

To purchase passes using the OKCMomof3 promo code, simply go to www.myventurepass.com and click on the Redeem button in the upper right hand corner. Enter the promo code OKCMomof3 & click the discount code button. Then finish with your personal information.

Have you been to any of these family friendly entertainment venues? Do you think this is something that your family would enjoy?

This summer marks 5 years that we will have lived in OKC and we have yet to visit any of these attractions, so I am looking forward to getting my own pass so that we can go as a family all summer long. And just in case you’re curious about the Fright Fest at Frontier City during the month of October. My 18 year old son worked there last season and had such a great time. He highly recommends it.

Walking with Dinosaurs The Arena Spectacular

Have you ever wished that you could travel back in time? How about traveling back in time to live among the dinosaurs? Ok, realistically maybe only when you were a child unless you really love dinosaurs as an adult. But, I know that most kids (and some adults) would love to experience dinosaurs outside of a book or museum.

Well, now is your chance to experience life-like dinosaurs in Oklahoma City at the Chesapeake Energy Arena. But you’ll need to hurry because it is only through this weekend.

Walking with Dinosaurs The Arena Spectacular
The additional show times this weekend are:

Friday, October 24 at 7pm
Saturday, October 25 at 11am, 3pm and 7pm
Sunday, October 26 at 1pm and 5pm

We had the pleasure of attending last night with free tickets in exchange for me spreading the word about the show. Now I love going to events like this and even more when they are free.

But, I have to say that my youngest wasn’t looking forward to going. Yes, he likes dinosaurs, but he is often hesitant to try new things or places. But I assured him that if he would just give it a chance he would have a good time.

As he watched & listened intently I knew that he was having a good time. In fact, so intent that he never even asked to get up for a potty break or a snack. Not once did I miss having to crawl over others in a mad rush to get to the restroom or have soda & popcorn sloshed over others as we got back to our seats.

It was definitely an attention getter for my son and it seemed that everyone around us was that intent on watching the show as well. Although, I will have to say that even though this show is certainly for any age, the babies may not be able to sit through the show, which is about an hour and a half long. There were a couple of babies that we could hear crying through the event. I wasn’t bothered by it but I am sure that the parents were frustrated with trying to keep them quiet until the end of the show.

The dinosaurs were definitely life-like in size, detail, and roars from the hatching of the eggs. I also love that the storyteller told of the dinosaurs and time period that they lived in. He was able to keep the attention of the audience, making it interesting.

Words from my 8 year old son: “I love the show. I thought it was cool. I am telling all of my friends and think they should go. I want to go again.”

Words from my husband (still a kid at heart): I thought how the narrator took the crowd from each type of dinosaur and time period to time period, he did a really good job. I wasn’t sure what to expect when we were walking in but once it started it was really cool and I’m glad that we got to go. The dinosaurs were a pretty good likeness of what dinosaurs would have looked like back then.”

And there you have it, 8 year old and husband approved! If you have the opportunity to go see Walking with Dinosaurs The Arena Spectacular, we highly recommend it.

The additional show times this weekend are:

Friday, October 24 at 7pm
Saturday, October 25 at 11am, 3pm and 7pm
Sunday, October 26 at 1pm and 5pm

Are you planning to attend? Which showing will you be going to? I would love to hear back from you on what you think of the show.

I wanted to share some of the pictures from our awesome experience at Walking with Dinosaurs The Arena Spectacular. I wasn’t able to take video or flash photography but did take some pictures with my phone, so they aren’t great but I think you’ll be able to understand we had a wonderful experience.

Ram Rodeo Series Event, OKC

If you are in the Oklahoma City area, then you already know that the Oklahoma State Fair is every September. If you are a newbie like we were 4 years ago, we wondered what all of the hype was about. Some travel quite a distance just to attend the fair. Because after-all, the fair really does have a lot to offer, including the PRCA Xtreme Bulls, a Ram Rodeo Series event. I had no idea that Ram Truck has been an avid sponsor of the Rodeo Sport for over 30 years. I learned more about Ram Trucks while working with them through the Rodeo event.

Ram Truck supports two important passions of the American Heritage; rodeos and automobiles. They help pave the way for future generations of cowboys and cowgirls through various scholarships, auctions, and other initiatives, also supporting local charities. They host more than 500 rodeos throughout the year, being a main attraction and drawing large crowds within the community.

Now, I actually owned & drove a Ram truck myself several years ago and they have certainly upgraded their options since then. When the rodeo is coming to your area, make sure to stop by the Ram Truck onsite. Who knows, you may even have an opportunity to register to win one. And who knows, I may actually be in the market for a new Ram truck in the near future. But shhh, don’t tell my husband. ;-)

Look at these beautiful Ram trucks! The following pictures were provided for my use in this review.

2014 RAM 1500

2012 RAM RODEO TRUCK

In working with them, they were kind enough to offer my family tickets to attend in exchange for my honest review.

This was my youngest sons first time to ever attend a Rodeo or XTreme Bull Riding event. He wasn’t real sure what to expect and kept referencing the time that we went to the indoor arena for the Medieval Times. No, this will be much different.

It may sound silly but I love Rodeo’s. No, not just because of the cowboys, although that view never hurts. ;-)

When my husband and I were just dating, the first movie date that we went on was to watch “8 Seconds”. Now you probably already know that it is a movie based on a true story of a bull-rider. If you haven’t seen it you really need to watch it. My cowboy and I have been married now for 20+ years.

I loved being able to experience my sons excitement and interest in the bull riding for the first time. He watched intently while the cowboys were behind the chutes. Asking what they were doing, then watched in awe as they rode the bull. I was explaining to him that the brave cowboys would ride the bulls, hopefully riding until the 8 second buzzer. Then they may get bucked off, jump up and dust off just to do it all over again. This gave a whole new meaning to “pull up them boot straps and dust your-self off”.

He also loved the rodeo clowns. They were able to keep the attention of the audience and make everyone laugh. My son also watched as the rodeo clowns helped distract the bulls.

Rodeo and Bull Riding is great entertainment for the entire family.

We have friends that have 6 boys. The older boys are already involved in rodeo and bull riding. I think it is a great way to teach competition with the western heritage.

There was even a concert after the XTreme Bull Rides. We only stayed for part of it since it was late and we have a little one.

I would highly recommend the Rodeo and XTreme Bull Riding events. Our family enjoyed the evening out. The entertainment is good for any age. We even had quite a few good laughs too.

Thank you again to the Ram Rodeo Series & the PRCA Xtreme Bull for a wonderful family friendly evening event.

Tips:

If you are planning to attend an event like this call ahead & ask what area is best for parking, so that you can park as close to the building as possible. Otherwise you may park on the complete opposite side of the building.

Also, if the event is being held in conjunction w/ a fair, etc. then allow yourself plenty of time for traffic.

Last, but not least, wear comfortable shoes for the long walk. I wore my boots, of course! Luckily my boots are well broken-in. ;-)

The following are pictures that I took while attending the event. I wish I had been able to take more pictures, but I was busy enjoying the event.

BJ’s Restaurant Mobile App, Review & Giveaway

I received a Gift-Card in exchange for my honest review of the new mobile app, as well as a Gift-Card to give away to one of my readers (rafflecopter link below).

Summer-time fun! Are you running from the pool, to bowling, the movies, theme parks, etc. just trying to keep the little ones entertained? Then on the ride home, everybody is complaining that they are hungry, right?! I am sure that you know that scenario all too well!

Or maybe you find yourself running from work, to pick up kids from school and then to all of the kids extra-curricular activities. At some point you have to feed the team, right?!

Or maybe, just maybe you’re living in limbo from the sell of a house before you get into the next house. (Yes, this has been our recent experience which I can tell you about in a later post.) But, whether you’re staying in a hotel, staying with family/friends, or roughing it in an RV you still have to eat, right?! And the fast food lines, sandwiches, and other snacks get old quick, especially if it is for any length of time.

So you’re thinking a nice, sit down dinner versus the usual drive-through options? But everybody is so hungry that you don’t think they can wait patiently for a seat and then on top of that decide what everybody wants to eat, get it ordered, and on the table. That kind of meal could take up to a couple of hours. And we all know how stressful it can be in a restaurant with hungry kids. The scenario of the moody kids, the fighting among siblings, bodies sliding under the table, on top of that, trying to juggle their orders while deciding what you’ll order for yourself?

But, wait! What if there was an option to make a nice, sit down dinner a reality without the hassle and it saves time. In fact, you could possibly be in and out of the restaurant in less than an hour even if you choose to dine-in at the restaurant.

Did I spark your attention?

Yes, you read that correctly. You can have a nice, sit down dinner that everyone will enjoy in less time. And, yes the restaurant has a full menu with lots of options to please even the pickiest of eaters. Pizza, salads, sandwiches, and more!

BJ’s Restaurant recently contacted me with an offer. They wanted me to download their new app (it launched on July 10th) on my smartphone & review the Dine-In Order Ahead option. And since my family loves BJ’s Restaurant, of course I accepted! You can check out the new app here BJ’s Restaurant app. The app will allow you to let the restaurant know your arrival time, and order ahead (before you get to the restaurant). In the event that you are not ordering through the app, the app will even allow you to put your party on the wait-list before you get to the restaurant.

Let me explain to you how easy it is to use the app.

I downloaded the app prior to dining at the restaurant. The app will walks you through each step.

First I selected which location I was planning to visit (it will allow you to change locations if you’re planning to go to a different location on a different day/time).

Then you get to choose whether you will Dine-In, Take Out, or have Curbside. We chose Dine-In because like I mentioned before we were in limbo and didn’t want to take it back to the RV. Plus, I also wanted to have the full experience of the app so we chose to Dine-In.

Then you get to select the date and time of your BJ’s Restaurant visit. I literally put our order in on the way to the restaurant. It was that easy. My teenage son was happy to drive us there that evening! ;-)

You will also want to select how many are in your party, there were 4 of us the evening that we went to BJ’s Restaurant. Ordering on the app is great for parties of up to 9 people.

Then click on the little button that says “Let’s Eat” to place your order.

You can order your appetizers, drinks, meals etc.! You can even specify modifications to your order. For instance, my husband ordered a pizza but wanted it without black olives (how could he not like black olives on his pizza is beyond me :-) ).

And don’t forget to order dessert. Yes, you can order that on the app as well and it will be brought out when you’re ready, considering that you’re dining in.

So you’ve placed your order and let the restaurant know your date/time of arrival. Now what?

When you arrive at BJ’s Restaurant let the hostess know that you are there and that you’ve placed an order through the app. They will scan the app from your phone. A receipt will print that the hostess will carry to the table when you are seated.

When the waiter/waitress greets you at the table, they will verify the order and you’re set. Everything comes out in a timely manner, still giving you time to enjoy the appetizer before the meal comes out, and your meal before dessert comes out, etc.!

Also on the app is a Mobile Pay. I decided to use this feature because I wanted to see if it was really that easy. And yes, it was that easy. While the kids were enjoying their dessert I paid for our meal. The waitress came over to check on us once more and let us know the payment had been processed. My payment receipt was emailed to me.

We were in and out of their in less than an hour. We visited BJ’s Restaurant on a Monday evening at 6:15 pm during their busy dinner time, of course on a weekend night it might be a little busier but I am sure it would still save you time and you’d get an awesome meal that everyone in your party will enjoy.

Have you download or used the app yet? What are your thoughts?

Our BJ’s Restaurant experience was exceptional and I definitely love the app and plan to use it during our upcoming visits. Also, when you use the app there is a BJ’s Premier Rewards where you will earn points, so you’ll definitely want to use that app when you’re dining (Dine-In, Take-Out, or Curb-Side) at BJ’s Restaurant.

Now I mentioned that BJ’s Restaurant contacted me to try out their new app. They provided me with a gift-card for our dinner AND they have provided a gift-card for me to giveaway. Yeah! I get to give a BJ’s Restaurant gift-card to one lucky reader.

Celebration Station, OKC

First of all, planning any event with my children can be challenging enough because of their varying ages. My youngest would be fine hanging out in the pool. But, my teenager needs a little more entertainment and of course wants to invite a friend.

Although, I wasn’t very excited about an afternoon in the heat, we headed across town to Celebration Station. It was about 108 degrees that day & quite frankly, I didn’t like the idea of paying that much to spend a couple of hours in the heat. Who would?

As I was buying the tickets, the young lady helped me save a little bit of money by suggesting that I purchase a package. Well, my mood is getting better all ready!

We started with the indoor arcade games. Gee, it didn’t take long to go through $15 in tokens. But, I really do have to give them credit, most of the games were working. Not sure about you, but it really irritates me to go to a place & buy tokens when most of the games are out of order.

Outside, here we come! They decided on the go carts first! Guess what, since my youngest wasn’t tall enough to drive that meant I had to drive so he could enjoy the thrill.

As we are racing around the tracks, black tire pieces are hitting us in the face (but later finding it in my hair & other cracks, oops). My son kept telling me that he felt bugs in his face. Ok, there might have been those too, so keep your mouth closed. Leave it to my teenage son & his friend to bump one another & get stuck, on their first round. My immediate thought was all the money I spent & we were fixing to get kicked out of here because they bumped & got stuck! Thank goodness to great employees that knew they were just trying to enjoy themselves.

Next up was the bumper boats. At first my little one didn’t want to ride, which was fine by me after seeing another mom get off the ride, soaking wet. But once he saw how much fun the teenagers were having he decided he wanted to join in. So I instructed mine not to spray me in the hair or face. But the other bumper boat drivers didn’t have any restraint. After-all I looked like a pretty good target, I guess.

OK, I have to admit! I had a great time even if I ended up looking like a wet dog after the bumper boat ride. I know the kids had a great time. We ended up staying for 5 ½ hours so it was definitely worth the money. Especially, since we didn’t have to fuss with long lines or crowds while riding the go carts & bumper boats several times each. Not to mention being the only ones on the course when we played putt-putt golf.

So they are already asking if we can go back! Maybe we’ll see you there soon!

Our Visit to OKC, Before the Big Move

Before “THE” decision was made to actually move to OKC we traveled here to weigh our options, although in reality my husband had already made up his mind. ;-)

We drove from Texas to OKC on a Sunday afternoon. Sunday night it started raining, actually it poured all night. There were areas shut down due to flooding. I remember telling my husband, “this is a sign, we shouldn’t be moving here”!! LOL Well on Monday afternoon we finally were able to leave the hotel to look around a bit. There were still lots of areas closed due to flooding.

We love the Bricktown area, downtown. Lots of great restaurants, one of my favorites is Toby Keiths I Love This Bar and Grill. But just once I would like him to walk in and sit next to me for a picture. Is that really too much to ask? Hey, a girl can dream, right?! Maybe I should take my “red solo cup” for an autograph too. Great atmosphere even for the little ones w/ truck-like seats for pics.

There is a river, where you can take a water taxi ride. Along the river there are large statues that every kid wants to pose next to. There are beautiful waterfalls in this area and we have even been able to watch photographers capture memories. Maybe one of these days I’ll be able to drag my family there for photos. Don’t forget to take a horse-drawn carriage ride too. How romantic! Then walking distance to BassPro Shop after the romantic ride ;-).

Isnt baseball America’s favorite past-time? How about going to a baseball game at the Bricktown Ballpark? Then from Thanksgiving time through New Years Day they turn the ballpark into a fun snow-tubing adventure. Fun times!! Not a baseball fan? How about basketball? OKC Thunder! I’ve been to a couple of the games, including the 2nd play-off game. What a wonderful experience. Who knew that the Chesapeake Arena could be so loud!

A must see while in OKC is the Oklahoma City National Memorial & Museum. It is a very beautiful and touching tribute to those that were affected by the bombing April 19, 1995.

It has been two years since we first visited OKC. We are still here making memories and loving it. Whether you are here to visit or live here I hope that you love it as much as we do, aside from the fear of tornado’s! :-)
