A few weeks ago I received the Hasbro NERF CYBER HOOP in the mail from BzzAgent. I agreed to give a review once my son had an opportunity to play ball in the house.
Yes, you heard that right! My first thought when it arrived was, all these years I have told my kids “don’t play ball in the house”. And now, I will be telling him to play ball in the house. Yes, I realize it is a NERF ball, but I worried that it might give my son the idea that NOW it is ok to play ball in the house.
My son was thrilled to know that he was going to help me with this review. He is 7 and was able to help put it together. In fact, he started without me because he was so excited! So, it is easy to put together!
Now I am sure that you have probably seen NERF Hoops before, but this one is different. This one has sound (you’ll need 3 AAA batteries) and if you have a “smart device” such as an iPhone or iPod you can download an app to use with this Hasbro NERF CYBER HOOP. Bonus, right!
This would be a great addition to any playroom. Although, not all homes have that option, but it could still be used on a bedroom or closet door. I like the idea of placing it on the inside of a closet door, so that it can be closed up with the toys at the end of the day &/or in the event of company.
Having a basketball goal that makes sounds after each goal is actually pretty neat! I think it makes it more fun for the kids. This would also make a great game for sleepovers &/or parties. Just think about all of the noise the kids will be making!
Like I mentioned before, the Hasbro NERF Cyber Hoops has the option to use the smart device to record &/or play games. I think it is great that they designed a game app, to be competitive with todays technology. There are several different virtual games that can be played with up to four players all within one app.
In my opinion, this would be better used for someone a little older than my 7 year old since it is interactive. I also think it would be great for the kids to play against their friends but they would need to have the same game. If that isn’t possible they can play against other random players. The older kids would probably like to compete against their friends from the comfort of their own home. But, as you know, the older our kids get they have different interests.
The Hasbro NERF Cyber Hoop is geared for kids 8 years and up. My 7 year old (8 years old in a few more months) liked playing with the Hasbro NERF Cyber Hoop. In fact, he even played with it after school today and it stays on his closet door. And even as much as he liked the Hasbro NERF Cyber Hoop, the smart phone app just didn’t interest him as much as I thought that it would. Like I mentioned above, kids just a little older would probably really like this option on the Hasbro NERF Cyber Hoop. And give him a few more months and I am sure he will like this even more.
I also thought that the Hasbro NERF Cyber Hoop was reasonably priced at just under $20. This would make a great gift. Do you do a gift exchange within friends or family? This would be an interesting & fun game to give and still be within the $20 budget? Who is on your list that would like this Hasbro NERF Cyber Hoop?
Summarizing my overall thoughts
