Main Event – Spring Break FUNPass

Are you looking for family friendly entertainment? How about bowling, laser tag, arcade games, gravity ropes, billiards, food and fun all under one roof? You can entertain the older kids while the younger kids play and vice versa. Not to mention, you as a parent can jump right in to play too. Bowl with the kids or join in on laser tag. I have to admit that I have never played laser tag myself, but just might have to try it next time. At Main Event the entire family can have fun together.

We went for our first time just a couple of weeks ago, here in OKC. I took my 9 year old to a birthday party. I was really impressed with the size of the place and all of the activities that they had to offer. My son had a great time. In fact, he wasn’t ready to leave because he was having so much fun. It’s also great to know that my 18 year old son now has another option when he wants to go play pool.

If you’re looking for a stress free birthday party, you should consider Main Event. I stayed through the course of the party and everything was taken care of by the party host. I will definitely consider this as an option for future parties.

But right now, Spring Break is upon us and although we would love to travel away from home, there is plenty to do right here in OKC. Main Event being one of the options. They are even having a Spring Break Special right now.

Spring Break FUNPass is all-you-can-play activities

Daily from 9am-4pm is $15.95 per person*

Daily from 4pm-close is $17.95 per person*

*The Spring Break FUNPass is available all day Tuesday through Sunday and from open to 4pm to Monday.

This offer is good at any of the 19 Main Event centers. This includes bowling, laser tag, billiards, the gravity ropes, etc.

Since this is a Spring Break special it is now through April 8th.

Have you ever visited a Main Event location? Which one is closest to you? You can see a list of the Main Event locations here.

Orange Leaf Frozen Yogurt, Happy Hour Special & Giveaway

Orange Leaf Frozen Yogurt location

If you haven’t noticed by now based on some of my posts, I love sweets, treats and desserts. So an Orange Leaf Frozen Yogurt treat is right up my alley. It doesn’t really matter how cold it is outside, I still love it. And even better when I am trying to cool off on a hot summer day.

Do you love the Orange Leaf Frozen Yogurt treats too?

Orange Leaf Frozen Yogurt is a self-serve frozen treat destination where you get to serve yourself frozen yogurt and choose your own toppings. Choose from cookies pieces, gummy pieces, sprinkles, nuts, fruit, and the list continues. It’s all about portion control. You can fix you an itty-bitty treat or fill it up over the rim.

They offer uniquely flavored and made fresh daily frozen yogurt. The ultimate rich and creamy treat, in my opinion of course! There are several flavors to choose from; the classic flavors we all love like chocolate and vanilla, but so many more options, including the Reece’s Peanut Butter Cup.

I personally love the cheesecake flavor frozen yogurt and add fresh fruit to it. But my son loves to experiment with the frozen yogurt flavors and then loves adding cookies pieces and sprinkles. Use your imagination when creating your own treat.

Blackberry Cake Cobbler, Recipe

Are you often looking for a homemade dessert that is quick & easy, and oh so tasty? Something that can be changed up a bit depending on what fruit you decide to use? Then you’ll definitely want to try this Cake Cobber. It has the fruit like a cobbler, but the crust is more like a cake. And Oh So Yummy!

I make this dessert regularly and everybody loves it. It is a great dessert that can be put into the oven while cooking dinner and it will be ready to enjoy by the time dinner is over. And I am often asked for the recipe after I have made it for others. So I decided to share this with you today.

I think you’ll really love this recipe. I have made this with fresh fruit, fresh-frozen fruit, or a can of fruit pie filling. So keep that in mind when you are making your own. Also, just a quick heads up, this recipe doesn’t double well. I don’t know why, but it has run over every time that I have tried to double it, even if I use a much larger dish. If you want it to serve more than 4-8 depending on serving size, then I suggest making separate dishes.

I have also made this recipe for many years with one can of fruit pie filling. It can be easily changed up using different pie filling flavors; apple, cherry, blueberry, blackberry, cherry, etc. The recipe featured today is with Blackberry. Because my husband has been requesting it.

But I have also made it with fresh fruit or fresh frozen fruit. We now have our own blackberries bush in our yard, so we love using our fresh berries when we have them. It works well with fresh blueberries too, maybe even fresh rasberries.

Don’t forget to come back to let me know how much you love it.

Cake Cobbler Ingredients

Cake Cobbler

1 stick butter

2 tsp baking powder

1 cup sugar

1 cup flour

¼ tsp salt

¾ cup milk

2 cups fresh berries OR 1 can of fruit pie filling

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

In an 8X8 glass dish melt the stick of butter.

In a separate dish, while the butter is melting, mix together the dry ingredients; flour, sugar, baking powder, salt.

When the butter is completely melted stir in the dry ingredients, add the milk, then mix until smooth.

Place the fruit in the middle, on top but DO NOT stir in.

Bake on 350 degrees for 1 hour or until browned

Cake Cobbler

Once the butter is melted make sure you add the dry ingredients and milk into the hot dish and then mix well.

Please don’t make the mistake that I have made and try to double this recipe. It will run over.

Depending on serving size, this will feed 6-8

This is best served warm (add a little vanilla ice cream ~ delish)

Does this sound like something you’ll want to try?

Do you have your own favorite go-to dessert recipe? I’d love for you to share it with me. I am always looking for new recipes to try. Please feel free to add a link to your favorite recipe in the comments below.

Fitness, Training for a 5K

This post does include affiliate links. This means that I may earn something from it. If you have questions regarding this please see my Disclosure Statement under the About Me tab.

Do you exercise? Would you consider yourself physically active? Or are you in a position that you would like to be?

That is where I am, I would like to be!

Over the years I have become less physically active even though I walk from time to time, it isn’t regularly. And I have also joined gyms over the years, then I don’t go, I make excuses.

Over time I have done less for myself because I am busy doing for others. As a wife and mother we tend to take care of others before ourselves. I am sure you know that story all too well. But, I have also come to realize that if I don’t take the initiative to get more active for myself, then my family certainly won’t be active.

Since moving to Oklahoma and making new friends, many are very active, some running regularly. Then I cringe when they invite me to join them. Not because I don’t want to but because I know my fitness level isn’t where theirs is, and I don’t want to embarrass myself or be left in the dust.

I have been considering for a while now that I needed something to help me stay focused, motivated, and held somewhat accountable, besides my family because they’ll easily let me slide. So when I saw that MetroFamily and RunHers was looking for women that wanted to train for a 5K, I thought “hey, why not?” This would be a great opportunity to get started. I could start slow and have guidance.

So I signed up. I went to an introductory meeting. They gave lots of great information about sofa to 5K success, do’s and don’ts, also things that I would need. Wait, I thought I was running? Isn’t this a free sport? But, I guess I do need a few things. They said to make sure we have a good pair of running shoes, a good sports bra, ear warmers, gloves, and layers (& layers) of warm clothes for these brisk mornings. Heck, who are they kidding? These mornings are down-right cold. They also said that we would run together on Saturday mornings even if it was pouring buckets of rain or cold! The only time we wouldn’t meet to run is if there is lightening or if it is icy.

Then each week starts off with an email of encouragement, motivation, and what type of activity you should do each day to stay on track. Then of course we meet on Saturday mornings to run together. So I am currently in my 3rd week of training. I am getting a little concerned though because of all of the crazy weather that we’ve had over the last couple of weeks. It is a little hard to stay motivated while you’re stuck indoors. Our treadmill is currently under stuff. But not for long, it may replace my husbands recliner in the living area, but shhh he doesn’t know that yet.

On a positive note, the first week went really well. Some cross-training and fast walking. I was doing more each day even if that only included a fast walk in my own backyard. Luckily we have a large backyard. My youngest one even joined me. That first group run I even made a new friend. It just so happens, that she is also from Texas, moved here in August.

Now keep in mind I am still new to this, so if you’re active or already a runner then I would love some additional tips. But, in case you’re interested in starting your own journey with me, I thought I’d share a few things that I found.

Something that was really enforced in the meeting was to be prepared with the good shoes, good sports bra (gotta protect the girls), gloves, ear warmers, and warm layers (& layers).

So a few of my must haves are:

It just so happened that when I went in to get fitted for good running shoes they told me that the ones I was wearing were something they would have picked for me anyway. So instead of buying new ones I already have this pair. Yes they are bright pink. Don’t you love them?

Nike Women’s Zoom Vomero 9 Running Shoe

Because I wanted to make sure that I bought the right size sports bra, I went to Victoria’s Secret for sizing. I think I tried on every sports bra that they had in my size, but this style was the winner. I wanted one that had a front close zipper because I had trouble squirming in/out of the pull-on ones. If there had been a fly on the wall, they saw quite a show.

VSX Incredible by Victoria’s Secret Front-closed Sport Bra 32C Black Marl (3BN)

For many years now, during the winter months I wear Cuddle Duds regularly because I don’t like to get cold. I don’t leave home without them! I guess you could say that I am a bit of a wimp when it comes to cold weather. But I guess I’d better get accustomed to it if we are running even when its cold out.

Cuddl Duds Women’s Climatesmart Thermal Leggings

Cuddl Duds Women’s Climatesmart Long Sleeve Thermal Top

I already have a pair (or maybe more) of yoga pants, because I haven’t given up wearing mine. I also have plenty of active wear tops. These are the pants. I love how comfortable they are & don’t ride up. I have several shirts similar to this one and in various colors.

Champion Women’s Absolute Workout Pant

Champion Women’s Absolute Quarter Zip

I did need a better pair of gloves, since mine are more fashionable than warm. I picked these & didn’t even realize at the time that I can use my touchscreen phone with them on. Warm & able to use my phone = bonus!

Manzella Women’s Equinox Ultra Touch Tip Gloves

And I also needed something to cover my ears. I don’t want those babies to get cold. But I will admit, I had a hard time finding something that I liked that was comfortable, especially if I was planning to run. I really do like this because not only does it keep my ears warm, it keeps my hair out of my face. Isn’t it stylish?

Seirus Innovations Neofleece Headband, Black

Now I am going to get real personal with you. More personal than I have ever been. It is because it is a bit embarrassing. OK, it is real embarrassing. But I know that I am not the only one that deals with this embarrassing issue. It is just something that isn’t openly discussed. I have also stayed away from activities like jogging because, lets face it, after having 3 beautiful babies my body just doesn’t cooperate like it did when I was 20 years old. So I might tend to squirt or leak with activities where I move too fast or have impact, like running. But I came across these JustGo Girl Pads that are specifically made for the active woman. I have been told that once I get more active this issue could possible get better. Here’s hoping it will. But in the meantime, these are more comfortable than any other pad I’ve ever worn. If that is even possible. Please don’t judge.

Just Go Girl Athletic Leak Pad, 10 Count

So are you ready to get active with me? You now have an idea of the must haves & you probably already have them in your closet, possibly collecting dust . So let’s get moving. Who is with me?

I would love for you to run with me. The 5K that I a training for now is the RedBud Classic. If you want to run on the same team please let me know & I will get you more details. It will be so much fun! :-)

Family Friendly Fun in OKC, My Venture Pass

having fun OKC

I realize that there is still snow on the ground around OKC, but I am already thinking about Spring Break and summer plans. Maybe it is because I am so ready for the sunshine. Or maybe it is because I know that I will soon be hearing “I’m bored” and “What can we do today”.

So while researching things to do around OKC, I came across something new. It is a pass that incorporates 7 family entertainments into one price. These are hot attractions in/around OKC.

Have you heard about My Venture Pass? It is new for the OKC area. My Venture Pass has worked with local family friendly entertainment venues to get entry into the following places at one unbeatable price. Look at the venues that are included:

White Water Bay – Unlimited admission for 2015 season, early entrance for pass holders, free concerts included, free Dive-In Movies at the park, Park coupons, Fright Fest (Friday nights, Saturdays, and Sundays From Oct 2- Nov 1)

Frontier City – Unlimited admission for 2015 season, early entrance for pass holders, free concerts included, free Dive-In Movies at the park, Park coupons, Fright Fest (Friday nights, Saturdays, and Sundays From Oct 2- Nov 1)

HeyDay Entertainment – Laser Tag, Mini Golf, Ropes Course up to 3 of each activity M-Th from Open until 5PM

Blazers Ice Center – Unlimited skating during public/free skate

Arctic Edge Ice Center – Unlimited skating during public/free skate

Star Skate Norman – Unlimited skating during public/free skate

Star Skate Midwest City – Unlimited skating during public/free skate

These entertainment passes (all 7 of these places listed) are good for a 12 month period beginning on the date of purchase. If you have checked into the price of these places individually then you’ll know that the price can add up quickly, in excess of $450, per person. On their website the passes can be purchased for $149.99 per person.

But I was able to talk to the fine folks over at My Venture Pass and have negotiated a discounted rate for my readers. If you will use the code OKCMomof3 at checkout you will be able to purchase these entertainment passes at $20 off of the listed price. That would make each pass $129.99.

This is a great deal! Each family member needs to have a pass. If the kids go with friends, they just take their pass without any additional fees. Don’t forget to get one for yourself so that you can get entry into the family friendly entertainment venues as well. The teenagers will love you for that one! But if you’ve just got little one’s then you’ll want to be with them anyway. And why not? We parents have gotta have some fun too!

This pass offers families an opportunity to enjoy some of the best entertainment options in the metro, unlimited times throughout the year. So if you add them up separately, then you’ll know this pass will more than pay for itself. If you don’t live in the metro area, but you’re planning to visit, then it is still a great deal.

To purchase passes using the OKCMomof3 promo code, simply go to and click on the Redeem button in the upper right hand corner. Enter the promo code OKCMomof3 & click the discount code button. Then finish with your personal information.

Have you been to any of these family friendly entertainment venues? Do you think this is something that your family would enjoy?

This summer marks 5 years that we will have lived in OKC and we have yet to visit any of these attractions, so I am looking forward to getting my own pass so that we can go as a family all summer long. And just in case you’re curious about the Fright Fest at Frontier City during the month of October. My 18 year old son worked there last season and had such a great time. He highly recommends it.

REVEAL Men Calvin Klein, Review

Are you looking for a great gift for the man in your life? Do you like giving cologne gifts?

REVEAL Calvin Klein for Men

I recently received an unexpected package in the mail from Influenster. They sent the REVEAL Men Calvin Klein cologne. Influenster sent it to me complimentary for my husband to review. Isn’t that awesome? And he tried it right away.

My husband wears cologne daily but since he has a couple that he really likes (and that I really like on him) we don’t normally purchase new scents. I guess you could say we have our “go-to” colognes. A Creature of Habit, maybe! However, this is one we might just be adding to his collection in the near future.

The information card that came with the cologne says “REVEAL Men captures the tension between instant attraction and playful seduction”. Now, that right there sounds like an appealing mens cologne. Don’t you think?

Other information about this cologne is “…the fragrance hints at a play between relaxed sensuality and an undercurrent of addictive allure”.

In my opinion this cologne wasn’t overly strong, yet it still offered a vibrant fresh scent? REVEAL Men’s scent is a woody oriental and sensual.

Would I purchase this for my husband? Yes, of course I would! Have you tried the REVEAL Men Calvin Klein cologne? Would you consider sampling it when you see it in the department store?

REVEAL Men Calvin Klein

“I received these products complimentary from Influenster for testing purposes.”

No7 Protect & Perfect Intense Advanced Sachet, Review

This is my final review from the box of goodies that Influenster sent in the FrostyVoxBox. I have thoroughly enjoyed reviewing these items and I look forward to reviewing more items from Influenster.

Which items do you plan to purchase based on the 8 reviews that I have done from the #FrostyVoxBox that I have done?

In this Influenster #FrostyVoxBox I received the following items free in exchange for my honest review:

*No7 Protect & perfect Intense Advanced Sachet Sample

*Rimmel Gentle Eye Makeup Remover

*Rimmel Scandaleyes Waterproof Kohl Kajal Eyeliner

*NYC Experct Last Lip Color in Sugar Plum

*Celestial Seasoning Candy Cane Lane Decaf Green Holiday Tea Sample

*EcoTools hair Brush

*McCormick Gourmet Thyme

*Fruit Vines Bites

Even though I am just a “pinch” over 40 ;-) I am still concerned about fine lines, especially around my eyes (along with the puffiness). I have been looking into a product to help with those fine lines, but didn’t know where to begin since there are so many products available. So I was happy to try the No7 Protect & Perfect Intense Advanced Sachet Sample. It says that it is effective in reducing the appearance of fine lines in just two weeks and that it is hypo-allergenic. Well, the sample isn’t enough for two weeks, but so far I do love the feel of the product. Plus, the claims are that by women who have already tried the product, that with continued use the results are the best anti-aging results that they’ve seen. Since this product sample came with a coupon, I think I will put it to the test even further. This is a serum that can be used morning and night after cleansing the skin. It is silky smooth and does not feel greasy or oily.

Is this a product that you would consider purchasing based on my review?

Fruit Vines Bites, Review

Finally I will share with you the goodie from the Influenster box that my boys were excited about! Yes, they even got to sample something. It is an awesome bonus that Influenster wants a review on sweet treats that my boys can give their input on. They are a big influence on the treats that I purchase.

In this Influenster #FrostyVoxBox I received the following items free in exchange for my honest review:

*Fruit Vines Bites

*No7 Protect & perfect Intense Advanced Sachet Sample

*Rimmel Gentle Eye Makeup Remover

*Rimmel Scandaleyes Waterproof Kohl Kajal Eyeliner

*NYC Experct Last Lip Color in Sugar Plum

*Celestial Seasoning Candy Cane Lane Decaf Green Holiday Tea Sample

*EcoTools hair Brush

*McCormick Gourmet Thyme

Yes, my boys got excited about this item.

In fact, my boys were with me when I opened my Influnester #FrostyVoxBox so the Fruit Vines Bites were the first things to be pulled out of the box. They knew it was an edible treat! Even though it is probably a no-no with braces I did try one (ok, maybe a couple). It is a soft, chewy, fruity candy. Tasty too! Gotta love that, right! I have seen these in the store already, in strawberry and cherry flavors. We all liked them, but I will probably wait until the braces come off before I buy them for us, so that I am not tempted. I don’t always have the will-power to refuse a sweet treat and certainly don’t want to pull anything off for the orthodontist to repair.

Would you consider purchasing this sweet treat for your family based on my review?
